WA-ZO-BIA

It's quite disheartening that Nigerians young and old are annoyingly tribalistic. There is unity in diversity as a wise man once said and honestly apart from language and a few cultural practices we are all the same. I was on Instagram a few minutes ago and there was this meme saying yoruba's are dirty/ugly/the cause of Naija's problem etc. , the meme didn't get to me as much as the arguments in the comments section. I didn't realize there was real hatred amongst Nigerians just because they are from different parts of the country. Corruption, terrorism, insufficient resources, unemployment are amongst the numerous problems this country is facing and somehow in the midst of it all we find times to resent one another for stupid ethnic bias our very uninformed predecessors passed on. I say uninformed because they were less informed about other peoples or their traditions and that is not completely their fault. As the world is becoming more integrated we should als

MARRIAGING

Hi dears, I can't begin to apologize for my absence here. Writers block, Lagos traffic and a ton of insatiable clients kept me away. A lasting solution that would keep me active always is in the works. Anyway there's been marriage fever everywhere, people are getting married (and breaking up) and making the single ones out there dream of their own magical-dress-in-white-day. Don't get me wrong I am not a hater of happy things I am not just ready because some boxes on my to-do before marriage list ain't ticked yet. There are some basic things that we ladies need to do before we tie the knot, because the knot is really a knot that is not so easy to untie. A lot of young ladies out there get bored after getting married because they have to share all facets of their life with another individual. Here's a bucket list I put together of things to do before smiling to the alter with that man: Travel*** yes I mean it, go somewhere. See another town/state/country, w

BRUME!!!

BRUME!!!     "BOY KILLS SISTER'S LOVER" one headline read,so many other newspapers didn't consider it front page worthy but  had a column or two carrying the story.      A few cases made it to court in here in Nigeria they just rot on an officers table at "Alagbon" same way the suspect rots away in the cell. Brume made it to court, the social media awareness was massive,BBM broadcasts,Facebook updates, there was even a viral video of him screaming and stomping off after killing his victim. Brume made it to court.          The sisters betraying tears, the viral video and embellished stories made him into a monster. Though she said nothing, the now heavily pregnant sister was obviously not crying over his incarceration, she worsened the case. In the courtroom questions were pushed at him, he was probed and defended in "big grammar" with the lawyers sometimes showing off for the cameras. He answered, defended himself but never cried or showed signs

Internet addiction.

Hi dears, I am sure by now everyone knows how inconsistent my posts here have become...I'm quite sorry and I am working on creating a balance between everything.           Today's post springs from something I have found myself battling with recently and I would love to share my thoughts on the matter.            I am undeniably an Internet addict, I mean a junkie who can't possibly survive a few hours (not to imagine a whole day) without Internet. This is sad and I am trying so desperately to uncling myself from this "frenemy". Overtime I have gone to the internet for information, knowledge and sometimes to learn new skills, I hate to be in the dark on any subject whatsoever and my inquisitiveness was satiated online, unfortunately I took it to the next level.            I began looking for entertainment online, stuffs to buy, cloth styles even when I wasn't willing to purchase new clothes, room design ideas, jokes, memes, friends, succour, infac

My simple advice.

Well tomorrow some of us would go out and vote for whoever we think is the right person for our Presidential seat. I have nothing against any candidate but so many issues with both campaign teams. They make silly posters, stupid advert and to crown it up write extremely unrealistic speeches (*for I hate to imagine Buhari or Jonathan are the ones cooking up those empty promises speech).       I would like to state however that we shouldn't fool ourselves and don't let their stupidity swindle us: what 756,890 jobs are they providing when foreigners still own the biggest and best companies in Nigeria, what do they mean by giving our entrepreneurial opportunities when some of the so called graduates turn up every Friday night instead of reading their books and still pass because they sleep with the dean. How many of us really know and understand what corruption is? The head (ie President ) can only lead by example but we should all play our roles. Stop corruption by refusing to br

Yenique profiles @OgoruRegina

Name : Ogoru Regina Height : 5.8 ft tall What she does : Model, video vixen, dancer& actress Instagram handle : regirockstone28 Notable jobs : Atewo by Dj zeez                          Peteru by skuki                          Halleluya by mbryo ft patoranking                                              2shotz for the ladies As a teenager I loved mellow music that carried weight in words, my friend Regina however loved the beat, she loved to dance, to step, to move. As she matured she added more class and poise to her moves, she became more beautiful with a to-die-for body hence the modelling. A love for drama and a bit more fun led her into acting and yes the artists and video producers love her so she became a vixen. Having this lady on your team would sure push your music or brand 5 steps forward. Comment on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/yenique9ja to link with her. Have a lovely week dearies... xoxox

Photoshop much???

So everyone's abuzz with this Beyonce pre-photoshop pictures, but why? Did they seriously think she had flawless skin and appears glossy skined without a little touch up? 2013 Beyonce did this photo shoot for L'Oréal cosmetics and just a few days ago a fan site of Beyonce's posted the raw pictures without touchup. Well some people said the site (who have long taken the pictures down) were insinuating that she is fake, they said they wanted to show she is beautiful flaws and all (no pun intended). This led to a twitter war between fans and well not-fans. She's just human like us and has a right to both pimply skin and any other thing being Beyonce changes nothing. We saw Cindy Crawford without touch up too and I think this is a good trend, lets us know no one is perfect. To the critiques please don't let me catch you using instagram lights or camera 360 ooo else... Enjoy your weekend friends...xoxox

Breaking barriers

I have always believed there is beauty in diversity, we can't all have flawless skin, perfect height, size 5 hips but we can all be beautiful in our own ways. This year's New York fashion week was a mix of colour, fun, style and everything else the fashion week is all about. In the midst of all the new models coming up, new designs:good and bad came the real show stoppers, one of Carrie Hammer's original designs was worn on the runway  by Jamie Brewer the first model with Down's syndrome to walk the runway. Looking beautiful and inspiring the Actress and now model took my breath away. Then my personal queen also added more colour to the already eventful fashion week, Winnie Harlow real name Chantelle Brown-Young is a 20 years old Canadian with a very rare Skin condition called vitiligo. She walked the runway and made our hearts skip a few beats. She has been called Zebra, Cow and bullied but here she blossoms like a new flower giving us a taste of what could be. "

How much is your wife?

For centuries now the payment of dowry or bride price has been a marriage function of many cultures worldwide.   The word “dowry” means the wealth transferred from the bride’s family to the groom or his family at marriage, it is not always money it can be furniture or clothes. Bride price is an amount of money, property or any other form of wealth presented to the bride’s family on occasion of her wedding. This article deals with the bride price concept in Nigerian cultures and how a standard bride price is determined.                 Sometimes in the year 2014 an application that calculates bride price became popular albeit for a short while because Nigerians frowned on the qualities the app developer thought determined bride price though he said it was just for fun. The calculator had questions like “are you light-skinned?”, “level of education” etc, some people believed those were extreme but do these actually determine how much a family would ask for? Attending various Yoru

The futility of war

This is officially my first generalized article on yenique's page, please tell me what you think. This year yenique is going to be a fine blend of everything(except gossip). Since the APC and PDP political parties in Nigeria declared their presidential candidates there has been numerous little clashes and attacks by members/supporters of both parties. Could this lead to war? Some even swore to fight to death if their candidate doesn't make the seat. Some intellectuals seem to think it's just "cry wolf" but some of us are actually terrified of the possible outcome of the 2015 polls. I believe in politics of "person" in contrary to "party", the individual matters to me not his/her party but that's another story. If Ukraine could be devastated by war how much more Nigeria. I had the opportunity to study (a bit) about the Sudanese war and would love us to learn from their situation. In the year 1983 war broke out in Sudan between

Break-ups

Ever wondered why the longest relationships cause so many ripples if and when it's about to end? The beautiful Jordin had her share three(3) years after being in a seemingly loving relationship with Jason, the phone break-up, car return and rumours of Jason feeling compelled to get married. Both parties can get on the defensive and lash out at each other, get dis-stabilized for a while, fall ill, get bitter etc...basically though this is simply what happens: they have been together for so long and they have forgotten how to be alone.  Being in love can be quite fun most of the time our brain stops taking decisions for us and our heart takes over. Moving in together, having sex on an everyday basis, combining finances are some of the incorrect decisions our hearts are bound to make. This usually turns out disastrous when the end hits. There are ways to keep tabs on our emotions to prevent our hearts from being completely shattered if you (or the other partner) wants o

Advice from the depths of my heart

Hey beautiful people due to the immense love I've got for you I give you this advice. Always always use a condom when getting some sugar. This advice never gets old....it saves you from a lot. Unwanted pregnancy Deadly diseases and all.Just in case you fall into the category of guys who say it isn't so sugary when you use a condom, well here's something for you. *Make sure you only put the condom on a very erect and aroused penis...after all the touch touch. Be aroused and it's more fun. *Don't put your mind on it,just erase the idea that there's a layer between you and those walls. *Make sure there's still contact between your bodies during the act. *wink wink* enjoy safe and sweet love making dearies....it's yenique. See you guys later, meanwhile add me up on Facebook at www.facebook.com/yenique9ja....I love you all.

Slowing down

Our hearts do not have a remote control so sometimes we find ourselves falling in love seemingly "uncontrollably ".Love at first sight or Love at first uhmm according to Wale's lyrics in Lotus flower, this feeling can be quite spontaneous and we find ourselves acting completely off track and when asked we blame it on love.   Not to burst your bubbles though but not all such feelings are actually love most are just "lust in disguise ".Some culminate in long lasting relationships but some go awry and turn into an over rushed thing that would eventually die out. After studying such situations closely I noticed there's actually a trend and I decided to put out a list of my top five (5) signs that shows you are in a "rush rush" relationship and give tips on how to slow it down so you can get the best out.    #You paint your new partner perfect : "he's the cutest guy ever", "oh she's more caring than all my ex'es put together
